Help
Upload a screenplay, cast the voices and hear your table read, or rehearse your role with scene partners who wait for you. Here's how it works.
Which script files work?
PDF, Word (.docx), Final Draft (.fdx) and Fountain. Standard screenplay format reads best. After uploading, check the Review step: it shows any line that may have been read wrongly, and you can fix it there.
What are the steps?
- Review: check the scene headings, action lines, dialogue and parentheticals that were read from your file.
- Cast: pick a voice for every character and the narrator who reads the action lines. Hearing a voice sample is free.
- Generate: make the table read, scene by scene or all at once, then listen or download.
- Sound & ambience (optional): add room tone, effects and background sound.
How does the Rehearsal studio work?
Choose who you play. Your scene partners read every other role and wait for you to say your lines. Your partner comes in when you finish speaking (the microphone hears the end of your line; your browser turns speech into words and ScriptyDo never records your voice), after your line's time (a countdown, no microphone), or when you tap Space or Done. After you finish there's a natural beat before they answer, which you can make quicker or longer.
What are tokens?
Tokens pay for the voice work. Each paid action shows its cost first and only runs when you click. If a generation fails, its tokens come back automatically. Your balance and every charge are on Tokens & usage. During the beta, tokens come free with your invite.
Which voice tier should I pick?
Standard is the one to start with: it acts best and follows your moods, notes and parentheticals. Draft is quick and cheap for a first listen. Specialty voices have distinctive timbres and accents.
I changed a line. Do I have to regenerate everything?
No. Only the lines you changed, or whose voice or direction you changed, are marked as needing new audio. Everything else keeps the audio it already has.
Where do I download what I've made?
Open Downloads in the sidebar. For each script it has the whole table read and each scene, scenes with sound, your script (Fountain, for screenwriting apps, or plain text), your cast list as a spreadsheet, and the sounds you added. Downloading is always free. Rehearsal cue tracks are made for your role in the Rehearsal studio's Take it home section.

Use Report a bug in the sidebar. Tell us what you did and what happened; we'll see which page you were on. You can also email info@theindigoexchange.com. We aim to reply within a day.
How do I delete a script or my account?
Delete a script from Your scripts. To delete your whole account, open the account menu (top right) and choose Delete my account, or email info@theindigoexchange.com. See the Privacy Policy for how quickly it's removed.
